RHS GARDEN HARLOW CARR Explore these diverse and inspirational gardens. From water features to wildflower meadows, from the lavish Main Borders, bursting with prairie-style planting, to the lush, moisture-loving plants around Streamside.

 

Step inside the WORLD OF JAMES HERRIOT see where the famous vet lived, worked and wrote his incredibly successful series of books including ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. Take a walk through his fully restored 1940’s home and surgery, discover what life was like when James was a practising vet, see the car he drove, take a look around the TV set and perhaps try your hand a being a vet!

 

RIPON a delightful city situated on the River Ure, discover lovely riverside and canal walks, a magnificent gothic cathedral and thriving marketplace. Waiting to be explored are small streets and snickets home to eclectic and specialist shops.

 

HAREWOOD HOUSE is a stunning example of an 18th century country house! It was built for Edwin Lascelles, one of the wealthiest men in England, his family were Caribbean sugar merchants! No expense was spared in its design and construction. Thomas Chippendale was responsible for the furniture and Lancelot Capability Brown was the visionary gardener for the grounds. The result was one of the grandest and most fashionable houses in England!  Over the years its been a Gentleman’s country house, a Victorian family home, a royal household and a wartime convalescent hospital.
