Images of Liverpool conjure up magical sounds of The Beatles, the lilt of the ‘scouse’ accent and the mighty Everton and Liverpool football clubs. But there is oh, so much more……. the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes several locations in the centre of Liverpool including the Pier Head, Albert Dock and William Brown Street!
During this short break you have two free days to explore.
An excellent way to get to know Liverpool is by taking a city sightseeing tour bus, pausing at many of the city’s famous landmarks; Liver Building, St Georges Hall, Cavern Club, Albert Dock and Chinatown for a glimpse of its elaborate arch. The Metropolitan & Anglican Cathedrals are vastly different in architecture but both majestic and beautiful. And for a different perspective there is always the ‘Ferry across the Mersey’, made famous by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Discover all there is to know about this famous city with a visit to one or two of its numerous museums! (many are free). If art is your passion why not browse the contemporary art at the Tate Liverpool or visit the Walker Art Gallery where works by Rubens, Rembrandt and Rodin are displayed.
As you would expect of any major city shopping here is second to none with the modern Liverpool One centre, many independent boutiques and bohemian streets.
With so much to see and do here you’ll be wanting to return time and again!
NB – once you have been dropped at the hotel the coach will only return Monday morning. All attractions are close by.
