The 3 star White Swan Hotel is a charming 300-year-old coaching inn, set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a stone’s throw from the magnificent Alnwick Castle and Gardens. All rooms are ensuite comfortably furnished with television, telephone, Wi-Fi, tea/coffee facilities and hairdryer. Due to the historic nature of the hotel building, it does not have a lift. HEXHAM is an historic market town set on the south bank of the River Tyne, stunning architecture picturesque parks and a bloody history are all waiting to be explored! Hexham Abbey and the Old Gaol Museum are just a couple of must-sees while visiting.

 

CHESTERS ROMAN FORT is the best-preserved Roman cavalry fort in Britain! Around 500 cavalry troops, the elite of the Roman auxiliary forces were based here. Today an imaginative interpretation helps to explore the fort’s many features including the finest example of a military bath house.

 

Award winning BAMBURGH CASTLE has stood guard on a rocky plateau above the spectacular coastline for 1,400 years. Step through centuries of history as you explore this grand fortress which  has been a Royal Fortress, Norman Stronghold and Coastal Home. Visionary inventor, industrialist and philanthropist William George Armstrong bought the castle in 1894 and set about transforming it into his vision of an archetypal castle.

 

Cross the causeway (tide permitting) to the mysterious HOLY ISLAND of Lindisfarne admiring breathtaking views of the North Sea and striking castle. Stand under Lindisfarne Priory’s famous ‘rainbow bridge’ and sense the sacred Anglo-Saxon epicentre of Christianity
