Hotel Information

The 3 star Royal Esplanade Hotel is in a prime position along Ryde Esplanade, close to the Victorian pier. The hotel is a Grade II listed building full of character which has been lovingly and sympathetically restored by the current owners. All rooms are ensuite with television, tea/coffee facilities, telephone and hairdryer. Free Wi-Fi is available. Please note the hotel does not have a lift.

RYDE, located on the northern coast, was one of the UK’s original seaside destinations and much loved by Queen Victoria. Its the largest town on the island and home to the second longest pier in the country at nearly ½ mile long. The town has a distinctive skyline with many historic buildings, a quirky mix of Victorian architecture and unexpected hidden gems.

OSBORNE HOUSE is the palatial, former holiday home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Step inside and get an unforgettable glimpse into the sumptuous ground floor State Rooms including the exquisite Dunbar Room used for ceremonial dinners. Peek into the private world of Victoria and Albert and their nine children; the Queen’s bedroom, nursery rooms and royal bathrooms. Outside, the garden terraces have stunning views across the Solent that once reminded Prince Albert of the Bay of Naples. Follow the trail and find the unique Swiss Cottage, where the royal children played, gardened, cooked and collected unusual objects in their own private museum.
