DURHAM is a beautiful medieval city with ancient winding streets packed with history, culture and stunning architecture. The River Wear loops around this compact city and on top the prominent peninsula is the magnificent Romanesque Cathedral and the Norman Castle, which together have been designated a World Heritage Site.

The DURHAM DALES is a peaceful and tranquil landscape of moors and hills, valleys and meandering rivers dotted with picturesque villages and market towns. A scenic drive will give a sense of real open space and some amazing views along the way, the area is a real hidden gem.

Award-winning BEAMISH – THE LIVING MUSEUM OF THE NORTH is a living, working museum set in 300 acres of beautiful Durham countryside. Here you can experience a real sense of the past and discover what life was like in North East England during the last two centuries. The attraction is brought to life by the costumed characters in the Town, Pit Village, Home Farm and Pockerley Old Hall, plus much more.

RABY CASTLE dates back to the 14th century and is one of England’s finest medieval castles. The Vane family bought Raby from the Crown in 1626 and the same family still own the castle today. Behind the powerful towers and turrets, the interior dates back to the Medieval, Regency and Victorian eras with a wide range of art, textiles and furniture dating from the 17th century. Outside is a wonderful 18th century Walled Garden and 200 acre deer park.
