A visit to the KEUKENHOF GARDENS is a truly unique and unforgettable experience, it is said to be the most beautiful spring garden in the world! Every autumn more than 7 million flower bulbs are planted to flower in spring. The flower park covers 32 hectares and has 800 different varieties of tulip. A stroll through the gardens takes you on a journey through magnificent flower displays, beautiful ponds, artwork and statue garden, dotted around the gardens are pavilions, terraces and restaurants in which to pause and admire your surroundings.
RAIL & SAIL HOLLAND’S HISTORIC TRIANGLE! First enjoy a lovely cruise across lake Ijsselmeer on board the Friesland, a museum ship! As the boat sails from Enkhuizen to Medemblik coffee and apple pie will be served. MEDEMBLIK is a lovely medieval city, one of the oldest in the area! Discover wonderful architecture and several museums including the Dutch Steam Museum. A heritage railway runs from Medemblik to Hoorn and this steam tram takes us on a nostalgic journey through beautiful countryside to the town of Hoorn.
HOORN is known as the ‘pearl of lake Ijsselmeer’, a charming little town crammed full of history. Its heyday was in the 17th century when it was one of the most important Dutch East India Company centres. It developed into a very wealthy town and even today dozens of monuments, churches and wonderful historical houses act as a reminder of its history.
