SANDOWN has been a popular holiday resort since Victorian times, the magnificent sandy bay is edged with a broad promenade and pier with the town just yards away. For wonderful panoramic views of Sandown Bay, take the cliff-top path to the neighbouring resort of Shanklin.

 

NEWPORT is located in the centre of the Isle and is the main town and shopping centre. Discover two elegant squares with fine Georgian and Victorian town houses and a colonnaded Guildhall which is home to the Museum of Island History. A short distance away is the harbour, a busy port until the mid 19th century and now popular with yachtsman.

 

RYDE is the largest town on the Isle of Wight and is known as “Gateway to the Island” with the ferry and hovercraft connections to the mainland. The town has a great selection of boutique shops, museums and galleries, also a promenade and sandy beach that stretches from the pier to Appley, giving fantastic views of the Solent.

 

An ISLAND TOUR is the ideal opportunity to view just some of the picturesque villages and bustling towns as we travel across the rolling hills. ALUM BAY is well known for its multi-coloured sand cliffs, the Needles Rocks, iconic chairlift and stunning views across the Solent.

Journey on a majestic steam engine with traditionally uniformed staff, travelling in a restored Victorian or Edwardian carriage passing charming, quiet rural stations.
