The Dordogne Valley is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of south west France, with a favourable climate, wonderful scenery and delightful towns and villages.

The holiday begins with an overnight ferry crossing from Portsmouth to St Malo. After breakfast on board, we dock at St Malo and begin our journey south through France arriving at the attractive market town of Le Bugue, our base for the next four nights.

SARLAT-LA-CANEDA, the capital of the Perigord Noir region. Explore the lovely old city with its large number of medieval and Renaissance buildings. Wander through its many narrow lanes and archways which open onto delightful squares.

ROCAMADOUR, a unique village located in a spectacular setting half-way up a cliff in the deep canyon of the Alzou river. Each year the village attracts more than one million pilgrims and tourists! Although small, the streets are lined with medieval houses, fortified gateways and seven churches, one of which is home to the Black Madonna.

PERIGUEX, a beautiful town with superb and unusual architecture, some of which dates back to Roman and medieval times. Discover the pretty squares, attractive boulevards, ornate carved windows and doorways, hidden courtyards and a wonderful Byzantine cathedral.

BERGERAC, set on the banks of the Dordogne river, it is the largest town in the area and renowned for producing tobacco and good wines. The old town has many half-timbered buildings, lovely streets and squares to explore with many boutique shops and restaurants.
